As the construction of the Bayelsa airport continues, the Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress have said the airport project scheduled for inauguration by the state government was “a cesspit of fraud.”

Doifie Buokoribo, the state Publicity Secretary of the APC, in a statement on Thursday, alleged that the project was put up by Governor Seriake Dickson to defraud the state.
The APC said Dickson should be prepared to stand trial for alleged fraud in the airport project and other crimes against the state.
“The N80bn plus Bayelsa Airport project was built at vastly inflated costs, making it clearly the most expensive airport project in Nigeria… No self-respecting, patriotic and honest Nigerian should be associated with this kind of fraudulent project,” the APC said.
But the state government said “it would only take a band of political desperadoes to criticise a good project like Bayelsa Airport.”
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Iworiso Markson, said the APC was desperate to cling to lies as a lifeline after losing most of its members to the PDP.
