Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, has said he was not afraid of going to court over allegations of preferential treatment offered to Azura Power West Africa Limited and Accugas Limited, Premium Times reports.
The minister was reacting to a suit filed by the power generating companies (GENCOs) last week. The GENCOs had on March 6 sued the Nigerian government for alleged discriminatory treatment of the companies and their gas suppliers with intent to harm their business interests.
Fashola said while they have the right to go to court, the GENCOs should be concerned about the court of public opinion which would not judge them in a good light based on the series of benefits they had enjoyed from government.
Fashola also alleged that the GENCOs were planning to disrupt power supply to sabotage government efforts.
